BIOGRAPHY
For the first eight years of his life, #23 had been part of a secret governmental project, the Genesis project. It was a project to work with orphaned children and make them governmental agents able to perform any action deemed necessary. They would be mercenaries if needed, spies, leaders, whatever task they'd excel at. The facility in which children were held was far from humanity, and was regarded as a military facility in official documents. The experiments done on children never got out, the program had never resurfaced or been used again, and the project itself was deemed a failure. It required too much funding, too much time and investment, and the success itself was uncertain. Investors were backing out when children started dying from various reasons, and those who didn't, did after an unexpected explosion in which equipment worth millions of dollars was destroyed. From 100 children in the facility, only five survived at the end of the project. They were given for adoption through hidden channels and scattered around the world. Two girls who were too young to show any results of testings were handed to normal families, one girl was bought by a politician, a boy was given to a military general involved in the project, and the last, most promising and most responsive to the program, was sold for millions to a gangster, Fernando Rivera Pena.The boy responsible for dozens of unresolved murders in the facility was a serial killer already by the time he got out. Exceptionally gifted since birth, 23 was quick to understand concepts, to devise strategies, solve problems, lead, manipulate, deceive, spy, and fight. He was the boy the project was counting on and Fernando was given such information, expecting the same from the boy he had bought. He was given a name, Domínico Rivera Álvarez, and had become the youngest member of Rivera family at age nine.He was a monster, and Fernando wanted to use him to his full potential. Little did the man know that the boy he counted on doing his bidding and hoped would serve as a right-hand man to his son, had already decided how to kill him at age 10. He carried out his plan when he was 18, and to the world it seemed as if his family was murdered while he was at a dancing competition in Italy.Amidst the years of preparation, Domínico had discovered passion for ballroom dancing, and had later made it his professional career. To the rest of the world, he's known as a world champion in Latin dances for the past ten years, and on and off champion in standard dances. Rivera family was wiped the night Fernando died, and a new organisation was born, Eden.The structure of the organisation is as complex and detailed as Risch's algorithm, with no one really knowing who makes the top management, let alone who the leader is. Eden is a huge organisation involved in the worst of crimes and the best of humanitarian aid, supporting the best and worst of human nature, with each individual being specifically chosen to make a member. To Domínico, it is a journey to prove his own ideology, and to the world, he's the worst monster it could've encountered, one that knows how to manipulate it.
PERSONALITY
Every move he makes is part of a dance. Every word he says is carefully picked out like a ripe fruit, served to the other with his own amusement in mind. He is a calculated, cunning man, incapable of remorse or grief. Very few people are seen as something more than objects in his eyes. He doesn't love, it is a concept far beyond his personal understanding, but he knows love — that beautiful emotion driving many people towards him. He's always been loved, as he should be.Heartless, cruel, apathic and sadistic, it is only his well-mannered, charismatic, and compassionate facade that hides his true intentions. He isn't prone to anger, his emotions are always controlled, but when it does happen on a rare occasion, the facade falls off like from an old house, revealing just a layer of the monster hiding underneath. He is the abyss Nietzsche wrote about, a manifestation of human cruelty. An adaptable man able to turn the tables in his favour whenever needed. It is truly a shame once someone piques his interest, as he makes himself part of their life whether they want it or not.Naturally, a part of him cares for those close to him, even if such care is not the typical norm of others. He cares enough to give someone a new start in life by murdering their family, cares enough to pay someone's education because they will be of use to him, cares enough to rip someone's limbs off because they touched someone he considers his, cares enough to not expose those rare people to the monster even if they are aware of it (unless needed).He is also full of passion and ambition for things that interest him, and is very much a perfectionist. There are no lines he won't cross to achieve his goals, and once he gives his word, he keeps it.Granted, in such a dark space he had created, he himself needs a bit of light to warm his skin. Literature, movies, music, ballroom dancing, social events, art, outdoor activities, travelling, sex, food — all is part of him, all helps create the mosaic of his persona. He wouldn't call his lighter interests as fake, or an attempt to blend in with the rest. He genuinely enjoys them, genuinely believes them to be part of him.There are two sides to his personality, one named Domínico and the other referred to as 23. One shines the brightest on stage and among people, the other suffocates the most when working underground. Her early years have been just like anyone else's. School, friends, sleepovers, books, games, sports, dancing. She had started dancing at age six, and had intended to become a professional when she was older. At first, she danced only with girls. It was hard to get boys to join the dancing studio, and the ones that were there were either partnered up already, older than her, or unable to match her energy. Hence, after talking with her dancing teacher, Carmen decided to match with a girl her age, and had been entering girls only dancing competitions. However, she wanted to join the stage with a male partner and had kept a close eye in case someone did join the studio. The opportunity presented itself at Ángel's birthday party when she was ten, and his older brother showed interest in it. He promised he'd join if he got to be her partner, and after a trial dance in the living room, she accepted. They have been dancing partners ever since.After finishing elementary school, Carmen had enrolled into Arts High School, and pursued it as a career ever since. Throughout competitons and events she built up her career as a professional ballroom dancer, and later on got a certificate for being a teacher as well. At age 26 she decided to get a university degree and had graduated at 29 with a bachelor's in literature and creative writing. Leaning towards creativity and expressing of one's self inspired her to write a novel, Heart of Leviathan, a fantasy mystery inspired by experiences in her personal life. The good reception of her first novel spurred her to make it a career, and since she had written two more novels, both set in a fantasy world and connected, Stars of Abyss and Rise of Menerun.Her books take inspiration from the real world put into a fictional setting, and her characters are often inspired by the people she had met throughout her life, which her readers appreciate. She is by no means a huge popular author, but she hopes to reach as many people with her writing as she can. A cautious individual with renewed interest in purpose, literature and history. Magnus is a polite individual with a shrewd mind and a great understanding of leadership and manipulation. He had been trained in them his whole life, after all. He is someone that plays the part of a billionaire to perfection, from the way he dresses to the way he acts. He finds intrigue in worldviews of others, enjoys discussing those for hours, and finds people unable to participate in such conversations dull. Despite the politeness that he has been taught, there is an air of arrogance around him, which people may find off-putting.
